Harvest Outreach Center
Harvest Outreach Center
is a place where those who understand the blessings
they have, come to serve those who are less fortunate.
Our desire is to remove the cycle of
poverty for those individuals and families by developing
a plan for recovery that caused their situation.
Get involved by volunteering or giving generously to the thousands of homeless families who are counting on someone for a meal, clothing, a job to support a family, rent assistance, or shelter from the cold.
About Shelia Reed and Harvest Outreach Center Ministry
Shelia Reed started
this work of God December of 1986. Shelia Reed is Founder,
President and Executive Director of Harvest Outreach
Center. Harvest Outreach Center has been a nonprofit
501(c)3 organization since 1986.
Mrs. Reed has successfully promoted on-site housing, feeding the hungry and homeless and medically indigent of the North Georgia area.
December of 1986 Mrs. Reed began feeding children in Dalton, Georgia that were without a home and were sleeping under steps of old buildings, abandoned homes, tents and wooded areas.
May of 1987, Mrs. Reed opened a store with a few of her close friends to cloth those that were suffering and poor.
The need to have a Community Kitchen came into play immediately. The kitchen was added to the store and some local churches helped her cook dinner two days a week. This fulfilled the need for the hungry.
Today Mrs. Reed has
started her twenty third year of feeding hot meals on-site
in a old city building that was set up as a restaurant
which became the Harvest Outreach Community Kitchen.
The food is cooked fresh each day by 100% volunteers.
The kitchen is open 24 hours each day. Anyone less fortunate can walk-in, sign the register and Eat Free!
With a strong desire
and dedicated volunteers, anything can be accomplished
to Glorify God!
Harvest Outreach
is a standalone Christian Agency depending upon area
Churches, Small Companies and Individuals like yourselves
to help with this greatly needed work that serves so
many.
